What is HDMI?
High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a revolutionary technology that provides viewers with the highest quality digital images. It is capable of delivering high-quality video and audio signals over a single cable. This novel technology is ideal for displays in a variety of applications: cinemas, concert halls, public transportation, shopping malls, stores, airports, schools, etc.
Is HDMI 1.3 backward compatible with previous versions of the HDMI and DVI specifications?
HDMI 1.3 supports the requirements of modern high-definition display devices, such as higher resolutions, high frame rates, and rich color depth. HDMI 1.3 is fully backward compatible with all previous versions of the HDMI specification, as well as DVI-compatible devices.
Which products or applications will take advantage of the new HDMI 1.3 features?
New high-definition DVD formats (HD-DVD and Blu-ray) and game consoles (PS3 and Xbox) will take advantage of HDMI 1.3. Digital television will be able to deliver images that are closer to reality than was previously possible.
The HDSpider™ series from LevelOne
The HDSpider series consists of HDMI Cat.5 transmitters and receivers, offering a complete range of HDMI extender solutions. Choose HDSpider extenders to build a flexible network and transmit high-quality HDMI signals over long distances at a reduced cost.
The HVE-9000 HDMI Cat.5 transmitter connects to an HD source, such as a Blu-ray player, Xbox 360, or PS3. The HD signals are sent from the HVE-9000 via a Cat. 5 cable to an HDMI Cat. 5 receiver. This allows for HDMI signal transmission up to 60 meters at full 1080p resolution. A built-in equalizer allows for fine-tuning of the HD signal using a rotary knob to achieve the best possible picture quality.
