Stacking and availability
To implement fault-tolerant networks, the Zyxel XGS4600 series enables the creation of a physical stack using one or two 10 Gigabit SFP+ slots. Four units or 112 Gigabit ports can be configured as a stack, with optional direct-attach cables (DACs) or transceivers. The XGS4600 series thus offers high bandwidths with more flexible management. The stacking topology with its ring architecture provides high redundancy. If one of the stacking links fails, the system can communicate uninterruptedly through the other link. The XGS4600 series is factory-equipped with two power supplies. This also increases system availability in the event of a power failure on one of the feeder lines. Hierarchical business networks are becoming more complex due to the increasing communication between subnets. The XGS4600 series offers dynamic routing to simplify cross-subnet communication—even for larger companies operating complex networks. In addition, the XGS4600 series operates with full Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing when deployed in stacking mode. Flexible management
With the XGS4600 series, technicians can manage all settings via the CLI (Command Line Interface), as is possible with all Zyxel managed switches. The intuitive web-based GUI helps skilled network administrators work faster and more productively. The latest Layer 3 switches can also be managed via the ZON utility. ZON allows administrators to see the Zyxel devices connected to the network at a glance, along with important information such as location and firmware version. To simplify network management, ZON offers intelligent functions: Detected Zyxel devices can be centrally rebooted, their passwords changed, IP settings made, and DHCP IP renewed. It is also possible to update the device firmware.
