Improved CPU performance
Powered by an Arm® 6-core System on a Chip (SoC) with the new 64-bit Armv8 architecture – the RK3399 – the Tinker Board 2S offers significantly improved performance compared to other popular SBC boards. It also features Arm big.LITTLE technology, a heterogeneous processor architecture that combines two very different processors into a single SoC. The big.LITTLE software automates task allocation, ensuring that each process is assigned the correct CPU core. The result is that the Tinker Board 2S is almost twice as powerful as the original Tinker Board and significantly faster than many competing SBCs.
Improved GPU performance
The GPU bundled with the Tinker Board 2S is the Mali-T860, a multi-core GPU that's the most powerful model based on Arm's Midgard architecture. The Mali-T860 is specifically designed for complex graphics applications and offers full support for OpenGL ES 3.0/3.1, OpenVG 1.1, OpenCL, and other frameworks for next-generation and legacy 2D/3D graphics applications. Compared to the original Tinker Board, the Mali-T860 GPU in the Tinker Board 2S accelerates graphics performance by up to 28%.
Dual display support
The Tinker Board 2S supports two displays with resolutions up to 4K UHD, providing compelling visual output. It also integrates three common display interfaces, including HDMI, DisplayPort over USB-C, and DSI, for maximum flexibility.
Wi-Fi & Bluetooth
Next-generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi with 2×2 dual-band antennas (2.4/5 GHz) delivers transfer speeds up to 10 times faster than previous Wi-Fi standards. The Tinker Board 2S also features the latest Bluetooth 5.0 technology, enabling up to 2x the transfer speed and up to 4x the range. Integrated Bluetooth also enables convenient, wireless connection to a wide range of devices, such as speakers, headphones, and game controllers.
Comprehensive connectivity
The Tinker Board 2S features three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C (USB-C) port for data transfer speeds up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0—and the convenience of an any-way-up connection. The Tinker Board 2's USB 3.2 Type-A ports deliver up to 0.9A of power, while the USB-C port delivers up to 1.5A, enabling significantly faster charging speeds than older USB 2.0 ports. The USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C supports OTG functionality and DisplayPort Alt Mode for connecting an external display.
