Frost-proof: As part of the GARDENA Sprinkler System, the GARDENA Drain Valve prevents frost damage to the underground system. This occurs through automatic drainage when the system is shut down; the valve opens when the water pressure in the system drops below approximately 0.2 bar. Drain valves should be installed at the lowest points of the irrigation system and embedded in a layer of washed coarse gravel for safe drainage.
