At the same time, the NH-L12S is highly flexible: When mounted above the cooling fins, the cooler supports RAM modules with a height of up to 48mm. When mounted below the fins, the overall height is only 70mm, allowing the cooler to fit into many HTPC and small form factor cases. The S version, equipped with the new NF-A12x15 fan, offers even more flexibility and even better performance in low-profile mode.

Low-profile mode
If the NF-A12x15 fan is mounted below the cooling fins, the height of the NH-L12S is only 70mm. The fan can be mounted with upward or downward airflow, depending on the airflow within the case.

High-Clearance Mode
If the NF-A12x15 is mounted on top, the NH-L12S offers sufficient space below the cooling fins for large chipset coolers or memory modules with heatsinks of up to 48mm in height (instead of 35mm in low-profile mode).

NF-A12x15 Slim 120mm Premium Fan
The NF-A12x15 is a slim 120mm premium fan that utilizes advanced aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels. The NF-A12x15's outstanding aerodynamic efficiency allows the NH-L12S to achieve even higher levels of performance than its predecessor with its 92mm fan.

Support for 120x25mm fans
The NH-L12S fan clamps allow for mounting not only the included NF-A12x15, but also 120mm fans with a 25mm thickness. Users with sufficient space in their case can further increase the cooler's performance by installing a 120x25mm fan above the cooling fins instead of the NF-A12x15 (increasing the overall height to 95mm).

SecuFirm2™ mounting system
Noctua's SecuFirm2™ mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, reliability, and easy installation. The SecuFirm2™ system in the NH-L12S supports Intel LGA1851, LGA1700 (since 2021), LGA1200, LGA115x (LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156), and AMD (AM4, AM5 (since 2019)). It is easy to install, ensures optimal contact pressure, and offers perfect performance even under intensive use for many years.

Offset mounting option for AMD AM5
The NH-L12S features Noctua's offset mounting bridges for AM5, allowing the cooler to be mounted 7mm toward the south side of the socket, achieving better contact quality directly above the CCD(s). This improved contact, precisely at the processor hotspot, can significantly reduce CPU temperatures, with typical improvements in the range of 1-3°C.

Compatibility with older and future sockets
The cooler complies with the open SecuFirm™ standard and can be made compatible with the older LGA1366 and LGA775 sockets using the optional NM-I3 mounting kit, available free of charge from Noctua. Where technically feasible, Noctua will also offer upgrade kits for future sockets.
