Description

Hewlett Packard Enterprise LTO-8 Ultrium 30TB RW Data Cartridge. Tape type: LTO, Uncompressed capacity: 12000 GB, Compressed capacity: 30000 GB. Data transfer rate: 700 Mbit/s. Tape Size: 1/2″ Tape Length: 960m Tape Thickness: 5.6µm

The extensively tested HPE LTO Ultrium data cartridges meet all requirements and are characterized by high reliability when restoring data, high storage density, easy manageability, and expandable storage and backup performance. LTO-Ultrium includes eight memory generations – LTO-1 (200GB), LTO-2 (400GB), LTO-3 (800GB), LTO-4 (1.6TB), LTO-5 (3TB), LTO -6 (6.25 TB), LTO-7 (15 TB) and LTO-8 (30 TB) – and enables transfer speeds of up to 2.7 TB/h with LTO-8. This means that there is a platform for all requirements and every budget. Beginning with LTO-3, LTO Ultrium WORM data cartridges enable the creation of compatible, durable, and tamper-proof archives. From LTO-4 onwards, secure AES-256 encryption offers an even higher level of data security and compliance with the strictest industry-specific regulations to prevent unauthorized data access. Starting with the LTO-5, using tape drives is as easy, flexible, mobile, and intuitive as using other removable and shareable storage media (e.g. USB drives) thanks to the HPE LTO Ultrium Linear Tape File System.

innovations
– Massive increase in capacity: 700% improvement over LTO-5 and 380% capacity over LTO-6 (assuming native data capacity)
– Significant performance increase – storage of 2.7 TB/h with LTO-8.
– Integrated AES 256-bit (IEEE 1619.1) encryption (LTO-4, LTO-5, LTO-6, LTO-7, LTO-8) – guaranteed FIPS 140-2 Level 1 certification.

functions

Highest capacity and performance among all comparable tape technologies
– HPE LTO-8 Ultrium writes or reads up to 2.7 TB of data per hour. Up to 30TB can be stored, encrypted and protected on a single cartridge – ideal for large, 24×7, mission-critical IT environments (at 2.5:1 compression).
– 85% more tracks and 8% more bit density enable between 15 TB more capacity for LTO-7 and 30 TB more for LTO-8: from 3,584 tracks for LTO-6, to 6,656 tracks for the eighth generation of HPE LTO- 8 Ultrium 30TB cartridges (at 2.5:1 compression).
– The memory chip of the HPE LTO Ultrium cartridge provides faster access as well as better media monitoring.
– Successful recovery from the start. Fewer media errors and fewer interrupted backups – regardless of the load and environmental conditions.

Extremely reliable
– Tape is more reliable than Enterprise SATA disks. Featuring a BER of 1×10 with the power of 19 for LTO-8 versus 1×10 with the power of 15 for Enterprise SATA disks. That's a difference in reliability of four orders of magnitude. For example, tape is 10,000 times more reliable than Enterprise SATA disk.
– Estimated data loss over 10 years for 1 exabyte archive is 1.1 petabytes for disk compared to just 7.4 terabytes for tape.
– Superior 'Smart Grabber' process and mechanical locks prevent the guide pin from being pulled into the band housing. Sensors detect the correct connection and prevent the tape from being lost and thus destroying the tape. Simplified belt path for reduced wear & debris build-up (important in automation)
– HPE's qualification and testing procedures (load/unload, 'shoeshine', drop tests, stress tests) go well beyond the requirements to earn the LTO Ultrium logo. This ensures maximum reliability for restoring your data.
– HPE guarantees LTO Ultrium data cartridges for up to 30 years of archival life. In this way, companies can meet the increasingly stringent legal requirements for data storage and archiving.

For sure
– Write-Once-Read-Many (WORM) version provides tamper-proof, compliant data storage.
– Data encryption for higher data security on HPE LTO-4, LTO-5, LTO-6, LTO-7 Ultrium and LTO-8 Ultrium. FIPS 140-2 Level 1 encryption.

Good value for money
– By standardizing on HPE LTO Ultrium, you get the capacity you need for shorter backup periods, benefit from industry-standard AES 256-bit encryption (IEEE 1619.1), and a choice of RW or WORM media; without the need for additional space or IT resources.
– Open standards technology ensures compatibility across product generations and gives you more choices. Cassettes are available with custom or non-custom labels (both with RFID options for some formats) and no labels.
