This switch is a high-performance Gigabit copper switch. It allows for easy upgrade of an existing network to transmission speeds of 1000 Mbps over Category 5 (Cat. 5) cables. It can be used in both conventional Fast Ethernet networks and Gigabit networks and is particularly suitable as a desktop device because it is fanless and therefore noise-free.
