The TL-R1220Sep-RP SAS 12Gb/s storage expansion enclosure is designed for expanding the storage space of your QTS or QuTS hero NAS. Up to sixteen expansion enclosures can be daisy-chained using high-speed Mini-SAS HD cables to support a raw capacity of up to 3.4PB, ideal for archiving/backing up virtualization applications, surveillance recordings, large data sets, or multimedia. Featuring Broadcom® SAS DataBolt™ bandwidth optimization technology, the TL-R1220Sep-RP consolidates 6Gb/s infrastructure into 12Gb/s. With four Mini-SAS HD SFF-8644 wide ports, the TL-R1220Sep-RP delivers transfer speeds of up to 192Gbps when connected to a single host. When connected to a QTS/QuTS hero NAS that supports multipath routing, the TL-R1220Sep-RP can achieve smoother data transmission and continuous system operation.

Reach up to 96Gb/s with link aggregation
The TL-R1220Sep-RP is equipped with a power-efficient 28nm SAS35x28R SAS expander and supports 12/6 Gb/s SAS/SATA drives. It also features four 12 Gb/s SAS 3.0 (x4 lane) SFF-8644 SAS wide ports. By connecting the TL-R1220Sep-RP to the host NAS and daisy-chaining multiple JBODs with two wide ports configured with link aggregation, the solution offers transfer speeds of up to 96 Gb/s.

Supports SAS DataBolt™ technology, delivering 12Gb/s speed using existing 6Gb/s infrastructure
Equipped with Broadcom® SAS DataBolt™ bandwidth optimization technology, the TL-R1220Sep-RP features intelligent data buffering to transfer data to drives at speeds that match the performance of the host NAS. Regardless of whether the TL-R1220Sep-RP uses 12Gb/s or 6Gb/s drives, the NAS host transfers data to the TL-R1220Sep-RP at 12Gb/s, allowing you to benefit from high-speed 12Gb/s SAS transfers using your existing 6Gb/s infrastructure.

Connect up to 16 JBODs, supporting up to 3.4PB raw capacity
The TL-R1220Sep-RP features four 12 Gb/s SAS 3.0 (x4 lane) SFF-8644 SAS wide ports. Up to sixteen TL-R1220Sep-RPs can be daisy-chained to achieve a raw capacity of up to 3.4 PB.

Multipath routing to ensure continuous system operation
By daisy-chaining the TL-R1220Sep-RP, data transmission loads can be balanced using multipath routing to achieve high availability. If one route fails, another transmission route can be used to access the data and ensure continuous system operation. The TL-R1220Sep-RP features a redundant power supply to ensure system operation.

Flexible daisy-chain modes
By daisy-chaining your NAS with multiple TL SAS JBODs and REXP SAS JBODs, you can take advantage of multipath routing and link aggregation to benefit from higher transfer speeds and higher system availability.

Memory management
By using Storage & Snapshot Manager on the host NAS, you can configure and manage the storage space of the TL-R1220Sep-RP by setting up RAID groups, storage pools, and snapshots, or by configuring the JBOD as a storage volume of the host NAS, allowing you to easily expand the NAS storage to accommodate large amounts of data or backup files. You can also configure and manage the TL-R1220Sep-RP via the console port.

Accelerate remote file transfers with JBOD migration
Moving many small files or a single large data file across a network can be time-consuming and negatively impact network performance. By setting up a RAID configuration on the TL-R1220Sep-RP, you can use it to move files to another computer or NAS. Simply save the files to the TL-R1220Sep-RP, connect it to the destination device, and then copy the files over it.
