A RAID for all occasions
Using two hard drives in a RAID array is widespread and popular thanks to its many advantages. However, those who want to take advantage of these benefits often find themselves at a disadvantage. Not every motherboard is equipped with a RAID controller, and laptops generally fall outside the scope of the RAID configuration. This is where the ICY BOX IB-RD3621U3 comes to the rescue, effectively converting two 3.5″ SATA hard drives into a high-performance RAID array.
You can choose between JBOD, RAID 0, BIG, and RAID 1 modes. This means you can choose between higher speed, data mirroring for greater reliability, detection of the HDDs as individual drives, or detection of both hard drives as one large drive. Striping (RAID 0), in particular, is powered by the modern USB 3.0 port – transfer rates of up to 5 Gbps are possible. The lower operating temperatures, thanks to active cooling in the form of a 6 cm quiet fan, are rewarded by the hard drives with a longer lifespan.
Have the pleasure – twice over!
Two 3.5″ hard drives fit into this RAID enclosure. Available RAID modes are Single, RAID 0, 1, LARGE, and Single. This makes this candidate extremely versatile and ready for any situation.
Name says it all
The case is made of particularly lightweight plastic, except for the front and rear panels. Since raiding can be very stressful for the hard drives and generates a lot of heat, the case is supported by a fan on the back.
Energy efficient
The IB-RD3621U3 becomes a true energy saver thanks to an on-off switch. It also boasts fast data transfer via USB 3.0 at up to 5 Gbps. Hard drives can be easily replaced via hot swap and plug-and-play, if desired.
