The aforementioned BLI study found a more than 40% higher printer failure rate when using non-genuine toner. This is due to the relatively large diameter of the powder particles found in many non-genuine toners. Samsung is the first manufacturer to have TÜV Rheinland test not only the toner powder used, but also the emissions during printing, as part of its consumables testing for harmful substances. To ensure that the quality of original Samsung toner remains at its usual high level, TÜV Rheinland repeats this material testing annually on a random basis.
