What this product does
The TL-FC311A-20 is a Gigabit media converter with a Gigabit RJ-45 port and a Gigabit SC fiber optic port, capable of converting between electrical and optical signals. Long-distance data transmission via fiber optics is applicable to commercial scenarios such as parking security monitoring and wireless networks.
How this product works
The TL-FC311A-20 uses Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology, which allows data to be transmitted and received over distances of up to 20 km using a single-mode fiber, saving customers half the cost of cable deployment. The TL-FC311A-20 transmits data at a wavelength of 1550 nm and receives data at a wavelength of 1310 nm on a single optical fiber. Therefore, the terminal device used in conjunction with the TL-FC311A-2 should transmit data at a wavelength of 1310 nm and receive data at a wavelength of 1550 nm. Another TP-Link media converter, the TL-FC311B-20, is one of the products that can work with the TL-FC311A-20.
Other features
Additionally, this media converter can be used as a standalone device (no rack required) or with TP-Link's TL-FC1420 rack mount for Auto MDI/MDI-X on the TX port, where duplex mode is automatically negotiated.
