Rack installation, form factor: 1U.
This 10G aggregation switch offers future-proof fiber optic performance as a master instance in distributed networks and provides powerful 14 SFP+ ports for aggregating access switches and an additional two QSFP+ ports. Professional redundancy features and two hot-swappable power supplies guarantee fail-safe operation. Thanks to comprehensive LANCOM network management, the device can be configured dynamically and automatically via the LANCOM Management Cloud (SD-LAN) or via the cloud-enabled web GUI and cloud-enabled CLI.
Flexible network topologies
The LANCOM XS-5116QF is ideal as an aggregation instance for networking access switches. Depending on the size of the installation, it can be integrated into the network topology either at the top level of the WAN (two-tier design) or at the second level between a core and the access switches (three-tier design).
Highest performance on all ports
The LANCOM XS-5116QF, with its fiber optic and Multi-Gigabit Ethernet (mGbE) ports, offers future-proof port performance, thus forming the essential foundation for networks that can meet the increasing demands of increasingly powerful clients, a growing number of IoT devices, and cloud applications. 14 SFP+ ports (10G), two of which can be used as mGbE combo ports, serve as a high-performance distribution instance for setting up switch structures. A powerful uplink with two QSFP+ ports (40G), which can also be used for stacking, makes the LANCOM XS-5116QF the optimal solution for medium-sized, distributed networks with high performance requirements.
Flexibility and investment protection thanks to stacking technology
Stacking allows multiple physical switches to be combined into a single logical unit, making them easy to maintain and manage. Should your network be expanded later, the new switch receives automated configuration from the stack master and is ready for use within seconds. Fail-safe device or network redundancy can be optimally implemented with the LANCOM XS-5116QF thanks to network load-independent stacking calculations performed by a dedicated backplane CPU via the QSFP+ uplink ports.
Full Layer 3 functionality
The LANCOM XS-5116QF is capable of handling Layer 3 tasks such as DHCP server functionality (IP address management) or the predefinition of network routes across one or more network segments. Thanks to dynamic routing techniques, the switch can also respond quickly to network changes. The LANCOM XS-5116QF continually redefines the optimal route for data traffic within the network based on the load. This reduces the load on the router, freeing up additional capacity to handle external data traffic and increasing the efficiency of the entire network.
Configurable access control
The LANCOM XS-5116QF ensures that no unauthorized clients gain access to the network. This is made possible by secure access control on all ports according to IEEE 802.1X (port-based, single-, multi-, and MAC-based) or access control via ACLs (Access Control Lists).
High operational reliability
The LANCOM XS-5116QF features two integrated hot-swappable PSUs (Power Supply Units). This allows for quick and uninterrupted replacement of the power supplies in the event of a failure. A front-to-back airflow design also ensures professional cooling in a 19-inch rack and extends the product's lifespan. The stacking function also helps implement highly fail-safe scenarios.
SD-LAN – easily administer complex networking scenarios
With the LANCOM Management Cloud, the LANCOM XS-5116QF can be quickly and easily integrated into the network and configured automatically. SD-LAN replaces individual device configuration with holistic network orchestration and enables automatic VLAN assignment to the desired switch ports. Configurations can be coordinated across locations and, taking the network architecture into account, simultaneously rolled out or updated with a click of the mouse.
Secure remote management
Thanks to secure communication protocols such as SSH, SSL, and SNMPv3, the LANCOM XS-5116QF enables professional remote network management. Furthermore, the switch supports the TACACS+ protocol for authentication, authorization, and accounting. This is an optimal solution that promises maximum security, especially when managing and monitoring cross-site networks.
Security “Made in Germany”
As a holder of the “IT Security made in Germany” trust mark, LANCOM is also committed to keeping its products free of hidden access points (backdoors). The use of LANCOM switches is therefore always compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), even in sensitive environments.
Secure Terminal Access
This feature allows direct access to the LANCOM switch's command line (“CLI Tunneling”) or its web GUI (“GUI Tunneling”) from the LANCOM Management Cloud – encrypted and, above all, without leaving the cloud interface. Whether “trace” and “ping” commands for quick troubleshooting, access to low-level configuration parameters and detailed statistics of the LCOS SX operating system, or secure remote access to third-party devices in the local network via the integrated SSH client – Secure Terminal Access provides expert functions as well as comprehensive diagnostic and troubleshooting commands for the devices.
Software lifecycle management with update guarantee
To ensure maximum investment protection, LANCOM offers regular free updates. Major releases with new features, release updates with detailed improvements, and bug fixes are available not only for the entire product lifespan, but also for a period of two years after product discontinuation. If the warranty is valid, critical security fixes and associated support are guaranteed for up to five years after the end-of-sales date.
