The MC112CS is a media converter designed to convert 100BASE-FX fiber media to 100BASE-TX copper media, or vice versa. The MC112CS uses WDM and requires only one fiber optic cable to transmit and receive data, saving you half the cost of cables. Designed according to the IEEE 802.3u 10/100BASE-TX standard and the 100BASE-FX standard, the MC112CS is designed for use with single-mode fiber optic cable and an SC connector. The MC112CS supports the longwave (LX) laser specification at a full-bandwidth forwarding rate. It transmits at a wavelength of 1310nm and receives at 1550nm. This means that the device intended to work with the MC112CS must transmit at 1550nm and receive at 1310nm. An example of a media converter from TP-Link that works with the MC112CS is the MC111CS.
Other features of the module include the ability to use the device as a standalone device (no additional enclosure required) or with TP-Link's 19-inch system chassis, auto-MDI/MDIX for the transmit port, auto-negotiation in duplex mode on the transmit port, and a status LED on the front panel. The MC112CS transmits in Fiber Optic Long Distance mode using a single-mode fiber optic cable over a distance of up to 20 km.
