The MC210CS is a media converter designed to convert 1000BASE-LX/LH fiber media to 1000BASE-T copper media, or vice versa. The MC210CS complies with the 1000BASE-T (IEEE 802.3ab) and 1000BASE-LX/LH (IEEE 802.3z) standards and is designed for use with single-mode fiber optic cable and an SC connector. The MC210CS supports the longwave (LX) laser specification at a full-bandwidth forwarding rate. It operates at 1310nm for both transmit and receive data.

Other features of the module include the ability to use the device as a standalone unit (no enclosure required) or with TP-LINK's 19-inch system chassis, auto-MDI/MDIX for the transmit port, and a status LED on the front panel. The MC210CS transmits in Fiber Optic Long Distance mode using single-mode fiber optic cable over distances of up to 15 km.
