HDMI is the standard for digital video transmission in the TV/multimedia sector, for example, connecting a TV with an HDMI interface to a playback device with an HDMI port. DisplayPort is the newer standard for digital audio/video transmission in the TV and multimedia sector, for example, connecting a TFT monitor with an HDMI interface to a TV tuner card with a DisplayPort connection. DisplayPort signals are compatible with HDMI. Cables with one DisplayPort and one HDTV connector. Note: A DisplayPort-to-HDTV cable is only usable in one direction: the DisplayPort connector can only be used on the data source side (e.g., graphics card).
